Pieter started his filming career in 1965 'under the tripod' as grip.

Traveled Asia and the United States a lot. Later he frequently went to Africa.

Pieter was honored with several national and international awards; an International Emmy on the documentary Welcome to North Korea, and a Dutch Academy Award on 'Train of Hope' about refugees in Congo
